Core Duties/Responsibilities

Position: Media Planner

Intro: MRM//McCann Media is looking to add talent to our growing media team. The selected candidate will be dedicated to a fantastic client; for whom we push the limits of data, tech and creativity in B2B marketing.

MRM//McCann Media offers an exciting opportunity to learn about marketing across sectors, geographies (global clients) and types of programs (awareness, engagement, conversion-driving), while increasing depth of experience in key focus areas.

This new team member’s focus will be B2B planning, buying and management. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Explore, evaluate and select media partners for consideration
  • Develop media opportunities with prospective partners
  • Apply benchmarks, project contributions to client goals and set pricing thresholds
  • Negotiate efficient rates and/or set max bid price
  • Score and prioritize opportunities
  • Process contracts
  • Collect and review ad specs with the production department
  • Coordinate the trafficking of creative/tags and confirm partner QA
  • Pull pacing and performance reports, review, extract insights and optimize
  • Reconcile billing and manage budgets
  • Keep finger on the pulse of B2B-related marketing trends, tactics and emerging opportunities
  • Read industry trades and share relevant content with others
  • Continuously and proactively provide suggestions as to how we might accelerate the client’s growth; ranging from tried & true (elsewhere) to unexpected & promising



Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience



  • Experience: 3+ years digital media planning and buying
  • Traits: Ambitious, inquisitive, persistent, thorough, detailed, creative, collaborative
  • Skills:
      • Exceptional verbal/written communication
      • Data analysis & extraction of meaningful insights
      • Attention to detail
  • Tools/software:
      • Ad management platforms (DoubleClick Campaign Manager or other)
      • Excel, PPT, Word, et al.Experience that is desired, but not required:
  • Strategies and tactics used to engage target organizations and the stakeholders within them:
    • Account-based marketing
    • DSPs/Programmatic buying
    • Content marketing
    • Contact generation (e.g., CPL)
    • “ CRM onboarding” or anonymous nurture
    • Retargeting
  • Dynamic creative implementation (DRM/DCLK Studio)
  • Solutions providers: Cross-device identity, viewability, ad fraud, brand safety
