Core Duties/Responsibilities


We are looking for a Lead UX Designer.  Working within the wider Customer Experience Practice and reporting to the Experience Design Director, the Lead UX Designer will work closely alongside strategists, analysts, designers, developers, copywriters and business stakeholders to lead the creation and delivery of compelling strategies and experiences to our clients’ customers.


This is a hands-on role and you will be responsible for UX throughout the whole project lifecycle; from estimation, requirements gathering and scoping all the way through to involvement in interface design, user testing, QA and launch, whilst creating insightful and beautifully-produced UX documentation along the way.


Key attributes

You will have:

  • proven agency experience and be able to show a portfolio of sketches, maps, diagrams, journeys and wireframes.
  • excellent knowledge of various UX approaches and techniques including research and strategy.
  • a passion for UX and the digital world, with a good awareness of current trends and emerging technologies.
  • a proven track record of leading teams on large scale projects in a collaborative manner.
  • excellent time-management skills and be able to balance work across multiple projects.
  • experience of conceiving and designing multi-channel digital experiences.
  • comprehensive knowledge of commonly-used software (including MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Omnigraffle, Axure).


You should be:

  • able to focus on the fine detail of a problem whilst considering the wider strategic context.
  • as happy working with pen and paper as on a Mac.
  • able to visually and verbally communicate your ideas effectively to clients and colleagues alike — be that in a pitch, a daily standup, a workshop or in the pub afterwards.
  • diplomatic and have the ability to resolve problems using your own initiative.
  • able to play nicely with account teams and other talented types throughout the agency.


This role will also provide the opportunity to help further develop and promote MRM’s UX offering (tools, techniques and process), managing and mentoring other UX Designers as well as raising awareness of the importance and value of UX to clients, internal teams and the McCann agency network.
