Core Duties/Responsibilities


Position: Associate Media Director


MRM//McCann Media is looking to add talent to our quickly growing media team. We offer an environment that is challenging, creative, collaborative and supports individual professional development. All media team members interface with account services, strategy, creative, paid search, social and analytics teams on a daily basis and gain exposure to a wide variety of marketing programs due to a well-established “sharing” culture. MRM//McCann Media offers an exciting opportunity to learn about marketing across sectors and program types (awareness, engagement, conversion-driving), while increasing depth of experience in key focus areas.


The selected candidate will be dedicated to an extremely dynamic, global client. All media strategy and planning, along with most of the media buying, is managed by the core media team in Princeton, while some international media buying is coordinated with in-market MRM//McCann partner offices.


Plans are heavily digital (display, video, audio, native, social, search), along cross-channel partnerships with education resources and a bit of out-of-home. Our media tracking, analysis and optimization is increasing in sophistication every day and ladders up to a larger effort to manage performance across geographies and touch points (media, social, client websites, et al.)


Candidates should have a successful track record of managing complex media plans, as well as winning client confidence through sound strategic thinking, qualitative and quantitative support and excellent communication and leadership skills. Collaboration, project management and a great work ethic are important as well, having a ripple effect that impacts the entire team.



  • Develop the strategic framework for media planning, measurement and tracking
  • Plan, negotiate and execute US/CA plans (with assistance from other team members)
  • Coordinate international plan execution with in-market MRM//McCann offices
  • Ensure quality, creativity and integrity of all services provided, as well as timely delivery
  • Monitor and analyze performance, side-by-side with MRM Analyst
  • Optimize rigorously to increase contributions to objectives with greater efficiency
  • Mentor one team member
  • Develop client trust and confidence
  • Read industry trades and stay updated on digital marketing trends



Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience



  • 5+ years’ experience in media
    • Heavy digital media focus desired w/some non-digital preferred
    • Brand-building and direct-response programs
    • Extensive client-facing experience
    • Strong cases; demonstrating performance and creativity
    • Programmatic buying – self-service or managed service
    • Proposal development and negotiation with publishers
    • Global experience a plus


  • Soft Skills:
    • Ability to see the big picture, complemented by superb attention to detail
    • Exceptional verbal/written communication
    • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
    • Technical understanding
    • Patient and goal-oriented mentoring


  • Tools & Software:
    • Media ad serving, tracking and analysis (e.g., DCLK or other)
    • Social media management platform (4C, Brand Networks, Sprinklr or other) a plus
    • Media Research (ComScore MediaMetrix or other)
    • Media R/F Planning (ComScore R/F or other) a plus
    • Site-side tracking platforms (Google Analytics or other) a plus
